There are over 7,000 unsigned artist on myspace alone. There are other sites with artist struggling for the opportunity to sign with a record label. Worldwide I would have to say there are well over 50,000 to 100,000 artist seeking a record deal. Every label has their own vision, goals and genres of music.

Moiko Records Vision, is to produce, and publish Artist who have a message, who are saying something, who have values and standards, who want to have a worldwide reach. We will not, publish songs of ignorance, songs using the N_word, songs using the B words, songs calling women whores or hoes, and any thing that is stupid and ignorant or not saying anything in MY opinion. The dictionary is full of words, find substitutes. There are so many issues the world need voices to bring forth messages. Let your voice be the voice of the ones crying in the wilderness. Let your voice speak for the hungry and homeless, let your voice bring healing to a broken heart, let your voice lift a child up who has been broken down or abused. Let your voice be, as a father, a son never had, or as a Mother, a girl never had. Let your voice bring nations together, Let your voice be heard worldwide, do great things with your voice, and the words you sing. Just make it make sense; not a bunch of nonsensical babble. These are the artist we want to sign. Think, Read, Grow, Expand your vision. You insult our vision with your words of ignorance. If that is the kind of music you want to sing, please, this is not the Label for you. We will delete and ban you if you do not respect our vision.

Secondly, there is SO MUCH TO DO! To get you signed. you have no idea!!!There is lots of paperwork. PLEASE, do what we ask you to do, so we can save time and money the more you do on the front end while we are laying the foundation, the more we can focus on helping you shine as an artist. So
Lift us up, so we can lift you up. Don't link to sites using the N word, Link to the artist that you came to support or the Moiko Sites, every site you link to that says Moiko, ultimately bring people to you. Stop with all the links to Myspace, they block your links out of my space, link to the site you want to be YOUR LABEL. How the Heck do you expect us to draw people to you, when you are sending them to MYSPACE??? Myspace has a Label, go sign with Myspace label, or Work with Us. How can you we build your house while you are building somebody elses house?
There is One link to your my space site, that is enough, Myspace don't allow you to link to other sites, why do we give them that extra FREE PR. You make us feel stupid working on your behalf while you are working on promoting others, PROMOTE MOIKO - draw people to MOIKO, and who will they see when they arrive? The awesome talent at the Moiko Records site. Finally, If you are not here to get signed with Moiko Records, or as a Fan of one of our Artist, a producer, composer, or band, this site is not for you, and you will be deleted. If you are only here to promote your shows, or stuff somewhere else, you will be deleted. We want people who want to sign with Moiko Records, or offer your services as a Producer, composer, songwriter, studio, beat maker, business, supporter or fan of one of the artist here; and if that is the case take a moment to link to them and say who sent you so we can credit their fans to them!.

Please answer the questions in Moiko support, so they can continue working to make sure when CD's are released, we will have an excellent start. You are only slowing yourselves down, and in the end, it will cost you more money to do it later. DO IT NOW, GET A JUMP START ANSWER THE QUESTIONS COMPLETELY AND PROPERLY. Please help us to help get you signed release and on your way,


Finally, Have a look at a typical label contract- so you can know in advance what not to expect from Moiko Records. Contracts have taken longer because we are working to offer our artist a better deal. As you can see, over half or our money goes to overhead and Marketing, so, why do you need to market myspace while we pay people to market you?

This is why I am committed to Moiko Records. First and foremost, the CEO has a vision--not an agenda. When you have someone who has a vision, and it matches your vision, together you will witness that vision. For those who don't really understand, and may not realize, if you have had the opportunity and pleasure of contacting Moiko and her mutually finding interest in you, you have found someone who genuinely cares about your career. You are NOT just a number, but a blessing. I know for a fact that this label is founded by someone who wants to impact the industry, not only with super #1 hits, but with something that has missing from music for a long time - Q U A L I T Y. You cannot do this with the average mentality and approach. You cannot do this while not understanding what is out there, what is up ahead and seeking the road to avoid the pitfalls of this horrific-wonderful business called show business. You cannot do this alone. BUT, to succeed with Moiko Records, you need to coming with a message; a message that will lift, not put down. Aren't YOU tired of trying to shield your children's ears of what is being played on the radio?? Since when did music become a weapon (Watch for my blog this week--That's the title right there!)

How many of us have been seeking a hand, someone to hear us; someone who believes in us enough to say, "I want to help you"? For me, its been a very long time. Oh yeah, people love my music, my messages and my style...but like she said, there are also over 100,000 of us trying to get somebody's attention and speak those words we all pray to hear: "we would like to sign you"! OMG, to me, I heard "I want to help you"... I want to help others know about you... I believe in you." So at the VERY least, I'm all ears..TELL ME EVERYTHING I NEED TO DO!! If I am told to do something, I take the attitude of "they know what they're talking about" - Granted, my approach and interest early in my career was actually spent monitoring and becoming very aware of my market, trends, and learning the importance of becoming a strong commodity in a flooded market. I found myspace to be an invalueable tool to network with people, H O W E V E R, you are a teeny-weeny 'lil number (isn't myspace 2 million+ people?) and EVERYBODY is doing the SAME THING! Here, you are not only heard, but you really get to share your music with other serious musicians, and it's wonderful to be amongst them.. This atmosphere is nothing like anything I've felt before. Its NOT competitive, but actually complementative....in other words, we compliment each others craft by being at the same higher standard. I feel unified here.. But something else I've learned recently that just blows my mind and I've GOT to add this warning:

Many artists do not realize the value of their music. If you wrote it, it belongs to you. At the very least, make it LEGALLY yours simply by going to the U.S. copyright office online, download the form, and mail it in. It's only $30.00 to copyright up to 15 songs. If you are a SERIOUS artist, you will NEVER risk putting your music up on myspace for free grabs-- YOU DON'T KNOW WHO is out there; may love your music enough TO STEAL IT! Do not assume someone won't try. This also applies to poems, spoken words, or raw instrumental tracks; THEY ARE YOUR WORDS & MUSIC--KEEP EM, THEY ARE YOURS -- Can you imagine being "discovered" one day, and when you go to copyright your OWN song that you can't because it belongs to somebody else, and now you can't even use your own music??? Trust me, the label is not going to be interested in pursuing the legal wrangling. They'll be like, "NEXT"!

Lastly, I concur with the conclusion of this blog 100%. If this is to be a professional website, desinated to professionals in the music industry, then please invite other professionals that YOU know. Yes, we all have a lot of friends, but the nature of this site is to generate a network of builders. Our fans, our true fans are some of our most valueable network builders here; they promote interest and sales. They are who we want to increase, and keep a dialoge with...the songwriters and producers, clothes designers and musicians--we need each other to do what we do. And those that are simply here to pray and support this vision called Moiko Records; they are precious to us, and are just as valueable as the others. Even more so because they don't have anything to risk but have everything we need:

It annoys me that you have to spend so much time addressing what should be trivial issues, when that time would be so much better spent tackling the launching of your artists. Left to there own devices, many people will simply not take the time to present themselves in a professional manner and accordingly will not be treated as professionals. This network is not commercially driven. It is artist powered. We care about presentation. We judge you by your presentation. If you are an artist, where is your music? Why isn't a sample, a snippet, a track or something on your page. If you want to be on this network, where is your picture? Why isn't your form completed in a manner that says you took it seriously? What if another label or producer is poaching in Moiko's Network? Do you really want opportunities to pass you up because you couldn't make time to give your best effort? Do you need help? Contact me. I don't mind helping. I won't be played, but I will help anyone who is trying. Word to the wise... the only thing a person can do that I won't forgive them for is waste my time. I value mine. And I know Moiko values hers. Please don't waste your time or opportunities.

I definately agree with what you are saying. I think that this is a wonderful thing that you are doing. I try very hard to stay away from people who produce music that have nothing but derogatory things to say about others. It does not help us in any way.

so often i am bombarded with sound alike and novelty songs that make me feel nothing.... sure, it may be cute, and i do enjoy comedy, but it isn't really what i consider to be "good music" or "art". music is almost sacred to me. i do value irreverent behavior to an extent, but "real" music touches me, moves me, enlightens and inspires me in a way that no formulated product or funny skit ever has. i'm glad to be here.

Maybe the reason why I did not really get into writing and singng until this stage in my life is because I just was not ready. The songs that I sang and wrote were a great deal like the "puppy mill" type music that is produced now. I am not perfoect but I like to write about things that others can relate too. There are so many things to write about in life without resorting to using the N and B words. Life is too short. If I am going to make an impact, I want it to be something that people will remember without being disgusted.

O.K. now.....I was invited to your site by TopCat and I support all other talents/artist on your sight....I enjoy visiting the sight to see what's going on with everyone and hope I will not be deleted....I like you straight to the point message especially about being a "voice" for the voiceless and faceless - vs - typical slam type lyrics, I applaud you on making this clear to those who are looking to sign with you....I uphold and support the standards you have set....Being the voice in the wilderness.....Deep
