Working on our music but how about our fitness!!

Hey all I wanted to write a blog about health and fitness but I think starting a discussion about it is better. This gives you all an opportunity to ask me questions. I am a Personal trainer and a Nutritionist for over 5 years and I practice what I preach.

What is the motivation that keeps you on track. Often, when i get down in the dumps, I don't want to exercise, (although I feel great and much better when I do) But its the motivation to go do that is sometimes a challenge to find.

Any suggestions?
Music as one of my motivators. Building yourself a list of music that you LOVE. I live for the day at the gym this is what i look forward to daily, because i know that the more i work out the closer to my goals.

Do not use the scale as an indicator of your success, use how you feel, how your cloths are fitting. That is the biggest downer people do to themselves is to weight themselves all the time. Do not do that.

Starting EVERY work out at the gym with a 20-30 minute cardio routine. This will release endorphins that make you feel great!!! Drink a little bit of caffeine before you start and this will help your body burn fat compared to muscle. This will help you get to your goals faster, and getting to where you want to go and seeing the change will keep you going for more!

Another thing you can do is to get a work out partner or get a personal trainer. Working out with someone with similar goals will help keep you in check. I like to work out by myself because I go to the gym spend 2-4 hours and most people do not like to spend that much time there.

JUST REMEMBER: Your body is your Vehicle through life, if you take care of it it will last you a long time.

If I knew I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself...
It is never to late my mother is 65 years old just diagnosed with diabetes and I started her on a program a year ago she went from a body fat percentage of 32% to an average 12% she is no longer dependent on insulin and now has total control of her diabetes and controls it with diet and exercise....SO it is never ever to late and you will ONLY live longer so lets go!!
Excellent discussion! No you won't find me in the local gym, can't afford it. But you will find me out walking often ( a couple of miles a day is easy ) and weight training at home to stay fit. Living in a place like Colorado with it's perpetual sunshine is some good motivation, but I also own a dog that lives for me taking her out on walks a minimum of 3 times each and every day for 15 min or more. I guess the point of telling you this is that if you can't get motivated to get moving on your own, get partnered up with someone and hold each other accountable. And for those of you who still smoke tobacco - quit. The BS in your head that tells you to light up as a way of dealing with stress is just that! Quitting actually improves your ability to handle stress! (It only took me a few decades to finally figure that out - but it's true!) Also, if you want to speed your metabolism up - don't skip meals, especially breakfast! Eat less, but more often and you'll get better results.
A suggestion from me who never was sportive in any way but since 4 months, could never live without sport anymore ;D ):

Find something that is really fun for you. It doesn't have to be the classic gym or the daily jogging routine in the park when it remains to be more force than fun...I searched very long and found my fun sports in dancing and Billy Blanks Tae Bo :)
And then, never force yourself but think of sports as a daily routine. But if you don't feel very motivated or fit, just think "I will do ten minutes today". It takes away lots of pressure and you will just start more easily. If after ten minutes you still don't feel very motivated or well, stop it and be proud that you still did something today, but more likely you will feel that you can aswell add some more minutes :)
These are the tricks that helped me out - and I really HATED sports my entire life *lol*
