I have copyrighted songs with the Library of Congress through the years. I have sent handwritten sheet music with lyrics, vinyl records, and cassettes through the mail, and recently,I filed my songs electronically. I know there are many ways to approach this, and I am certain there are pitfalls to avoid. I helped a studio customer copyright his CD recently, and we got it all filed collectively with one $35 fee. That was 10 songs and even the CD cover art was copyrighted all at the same time. Doing it this way also copyrighted the sound recording just for one fee! Would anyone care to share their own experiences and/or wisdom on this subject?
