- I am a 14-year-old Blues-Rock guitarist/singer/song writer. I play a Gibson Firebird Vll 1965 re-issue, a Brownsville and a strat.
In October 2008, I was selected to represent the Charlotte NC region at the 2009 International Blues Challenge (IBC), which took place in Memphis TN, February 2009. The IBC is an absolute blast, a cool place to jam with some great musicians..I was only scheduled on one stage, but was invited to play on 7 different stages to include; BB Kings with BB Kings All-star Band and with Blind Mississippi Morris, the Rum Boogie Cafe on Bob Margolin’s All-star stage and at Morgan Freeman's Ground Zero Club with Dave Fields.
I have also opened in Nashville for "Web Wilder & "Tom Hambridge" (Producer of Buddy Guys award winning CD "Skin Deep") and I have had the honor of playing on stage with some of the greatest regional, national & international recording artists, to include, "Walter Trout" in Charlotte NC at the Double Door, "Buddy Guy" at the Halton Arena in Charlotte NC, Tommy Castro, Robin & Tony Rogers, Mac Arnold (former bass player for Muddy Waters) Rusty Barkley and Contagious Blues Band.
I lead a five piece adult band, “Jake Haldenwang & Hwy 61". We are a unique project fueled by deep rich vocals and fiery guitar leads, combined with three-part multi vocals and an intense hard driving rhythm section. We blend traditional, contemporary, progressive & original rock blues. We draw inspiration for our high-powered gritty sound from artist such as; Johnny Winter, Rory Gallagher, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Joe Bonamassa, Jimi Hendrix, ZZ Top, Duane Allman, Derek Trucks, Eric Clapton and Cream.
We have enjoyed a great year, playing festivals and club dates through-out the South East. We are scheduled to complete 50 + shows so far by the year end. And we are currently working on our original song material in preparation for our first CD release coming soon.
