- With his unique style of poetry and dramatic play on words, Robert T. Sells is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with. Robert is a much sought after speaker and poet.
Born and raised in Gary, Indiana, Robert realized his love for poetry at age 11 after a request from his mom spurred him to write “Love Is” a poem he later dedicated to her. Sells’ style is mostly enjambment, but his elongated phrasing gives way to captivating introspectives about love and faith.
Sells is a featured author at WagFest, a literary conference and bazaar held annually in Seattle, Washington and at various locations throughout the year. His poetry has been featured in such publications as Christian Voice Magazine and Global Influence Magazine, as well as numerous online publications. Nominated 2009 Gary Entertainment Music Awards “Spoken Word Artist of the Year”, he has been a guest on several local radio shows and various Blogtalk radio shows. His poetry is also a part of the internet poetry movement called, Poetry Over Music, which features “Empty” on Volume I: Different Shades of Love and “Here and Now” on Volume III: Rhythm & Poetry. Robert is a recurring guest on the gospel radio showcase show, PAS Unplugged, which broadcast live on WYCA 102.3 FM and 1570 AM. Most recently, he was featured on “The John Lanier Show”, a syndicated Christian talk show. Sells’ work is featured on Ourstage.com, where he has placed in the Top 10 in the Spoken Word/Performance Poetry category in October and November of 2008 and in the Top 20 in December of 2008.
Currently hard at work on the third and fourth installments in the “Words of Inspiration” poetry series, Sells is also co-writing a short-story novel with his wife, Marlas; and a novel due to be released in late 2009.
